Yesterday, Wednesday 11th September the year eights of Mokoia Intermediate went down for the Rotorua  Lakes High open day for the year eights to choose what high school we wanted to go to.  I was in group B, first up was art we drew on plastic with special crayons and pressed it onto some wet paper, the drawing ended up on the piece of paper.  It was awesome and the helpers helped heaps.  Cooking was next we did four thing first we made little boxes to put our chocolates in I made a blue box covered in stickers.  Then we went to the next station two at a time we made plastic molds to shape our chocolate.  Next we filled up the molds with chocolate, and put them in the freezer to set.  With the leftover chocolate we dunked cookies in chocolate and sprinkles.  After morning tea we went to Gym we played Pirates it was so fun we swung from ropes and climbed up ladders.  Next was maths it was my least favorite but it was funny when Taylah went walk about and ended up in group A.  Then it was lunch we got a free sausage and ate our packed lunch.  Then was my favorite science  we got to watch the teacher take apart a eyeball and Teina had to blow up some lungs like they were breathing.  Last was Language we played fruit salad a game were you are in a group and when you get your groups name called you run and try find a new seat.  I can't wait to go here next year.

Speeches

This week there was speeches so many people were so good and others not so good.  I did my speech on fast food causing obesity it was nerve-racking but lots of fun the people who got through to the learning center was Anais M and Finn they were competeing against Maria, Hayden, Sarah to get into the school finals they all put up a great fight and brilliant speeches but in the end Finn and Anais.  Hayden really surprised me with his speech on New Zealand, but sarah and Maria had really good persuasiveness about them I think the best ones went into the finals.

Stormbreaker

Book VS movie

Nerve-racking, cliff-hanging these are just some of the words that describe the tense movie and novel that is Stormbreaker.  This is an exciting book and movie that many people love.  It’s about a boy who is thinks his uncles death is suspicious little does he know he is about to enter a life or death situation at least when Sayle comes into the picture.

Characters
There are many characters in Stormbreaker, the main ones are the young spy Alex Rider, the man who started it Herod Sayle.  Other people in the book were Nadia Vole, Ian Rider, Allan Blunt, Mr Grin and many more. Involving  Sabrina was a smart move as it added more understanding and more interest.  Many people in the movie got there name changed such as Herod Sayle got changed  to Darius Sayle.

Similarities
There were many similarities such as the weapons like got the Nintendo, yoyo, zit cream though he didn’t get the pen in the book.  There were many other similarities like how Ian dies, Yassen Kills Sayle and Ian and he gets put in a jellyfish tank.  There were lots of similarities yet there were almost as many differences as well.

Book
I think the book was better than the movie as it gave more detail and made you use your imagination.  When you watch the movie you don’t use your imagination.  That is why I think that the book is better.

Highlights
My favourite part was when he is in the jellyfish tank and he uses the zit cream to eat through the metal and the jellyfish goes flying out and Nadia Vole gets killed.  There were many good parts of the movie but another one of my favourites is when Nadia Vole goes to Alex’s house and attacks Jack, it is really funny when Nadia Vole gets the puffer fish in her hand.

Stormbreaker is an awesome book and movie and I would advise it to anyone who likes action and adventure movies.
